Examining Codes of Ethics

NAEYC
I-1.1—To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training.

This is meaningful to me because I feel that as a teacher you must stay up to date about things going in the education. Every day something changes in education and as teachers we must stay informed. In the childcare field things change constantly and if you are not aware of it you could get in trouble with licensing.

I-1.12—To work with families to provide a safe and smooth transition as children and families move from one program to the next.

To me this means that you must a reassure your families that their next teacher is just as wonderful as you are. Many parents are unsure what to expect about their child’s next class but we must reassure them their child will be safe and will progress fine.

DEC(code of ethics)
Professional and Interpersonal Behavior
-We shall serve as advocates for children with disabilities and their families and for the professionals who serve them by supporting both policy and programmatic decisions that enhance the quality of their lives.

This is meaningful to me because we must advocate for all children especially children with disabilities because if we don’t they will slip through the cracks. They deserve the same education as other children and should be treated the same. If we don’t advocate for children then who will because education is always the first cut in government.

  1. I also chose that first code. It is so important to stay up to date on all information. When we are up to date we can make decisions that are beneficial to children and provide them with quality care that will help them learn and grow.

  2. Hi Brittany I also thank, You should work with families to provide a safe and smooth transition as children and families move from one program to the next. Developing an open relationship with parents and teachers is a positive step in creating a healthy environment for children to learn. When parents and teachers are working together, children will be able to move from one program to the next. Parental involvement is important for all children to become good learners.
