Childbirth

I haven't experienced childbirth yet, but I was there when I friend went into labor with her son. Her water broke at around 4 in the morning and she went to the hospital they told her she was 7 centimeters dilated. They gave her and epidural for the pain and she needed up having a c-section because the baby's heart rate was dropping. To me this was a crazy experience because she hoping to push her baby out but couldn't. In China they expect you to drink strong herbal tea for the pain, there customs dictates that women should fear birth since it's considered a woman's career. They don't use a hospital bed, traditionally they give birth in an armchair or a futon. The Chinese traditions are totally different from American traditions.

  1. Hi Brittany,

I was in the room with my sister when she gave birth to my nephew. Her plans were to go through the pregnancy without receiving an epidural but things did not go as planned. The pain that she went through was so unbearable to her. Also, she had a difficult time pushing the baby out so she ended up getting a cesarean section. She was so disappointed because she wanted to have a natural and vaginal birth. When she gave birth to my niece, three years later, I was also in the room with her and this time things went the way she wanted them to go. After she gave birth to my niece, she told me that even though she went through a lot of pain, she would choose an unmedicated birth again.

  2. Hi Brittany,
I was in the delivery room when my daughter gave birth and it was scary for me because my daughter was having contraction and she was not dilating at all. She had a difficult pregnancy because the baby was born premature. I have heard in different countries babies are born all kind of way, some people do not like epidural because they said the drug will harm the baby. That is why a lot of women go natural and endure the pain. Brittany, when ever you ready to have your baby I wish you nothing but well, but remember every pregnancy is different.

  3. It is always interesting to me other cultures beliefs, my friend is Indian and she lives be the American traditions although her parents does not agree with her lifestlye. She has a son with long curly hair, in Indian boys are not supposed to have long hair my firend refuses to cute her son hair.
